A group of meditators have been sharing their time with one another once a week.
The group was started on the website MeetUp and has count of online members and attracts about a dozen meditators everyday morning and night.
I was a product of the ’60s and took a word religion class while attending the University of Illinois. I then studied Hinduism and Buddhism and was really drawn to these ways of looking at the world.
Outside of class, I heard about online meditation and started practicing on my own with some of my freinds
“I was so busy I got away from it but when I had a real crisis about four years ago, I started trying to get into it on my own,” Once “I went to Canada and practiced there and when I came back to the area, I realized there was no place to practice and thought starting a club would be a good way to stay with it.”
Most meditators have the most difficult time just getting started with the practice.Thats I feel it like challenges while doing meditation.
It’s important not to judge yourself when you’re meditating, If you’re having a hard time getting into it, it’s okay, just come back to your breath and try to let go of whatever is happening on the outside. It’s a time to clear your mind and focus on what is happening inwardly.
I got involved in meditation about 20 years ago when I was going through some challenges I was having difficulty coping with and came across meditation when I was exploring coping options,
Mindful meditation, the type the group focuses on is practiced primarily in silence.
Meditation is really all about thinking about the present and only the present,”. “We have so many thoughts and worries about what we did in the past and what will happen in the future, but in meditation, it’s important to live in the present and acknowledging the present in silence is a nice component.
One of the most important aspects of meditation is releasing tension in the body and fully relaxing.You can acknowledge the pain that you have and let it go,” he said. “If you’re busy concerning yourself with pain, it will allow your body to be a distraction to your mind.The results of meditation vary from person to person . meditation can be a good pain reliever.I work in the health care field and started leading classes before I was certified to help those with chronic pain and I think the combination of meditation and western medicine can be truly helpful for people.Then again I said that 15 minute meditation session fills him with energy and he equates to a three-hour nap.
The group and sessions are free, donations are welcomed but not required. Before each session, there is a 30-minute tea and socializing opportunity.
